They say that nature rests on the children of geniuses, but if your kid isn't particularly bright, that doesn't necessarily mean that you are a genius.

Hey, Mr. Smartass, we all know that you're a genius, so you don't necessarily need to have a stupid offspring to prove that to the rest of the world.
aha! but the rest of the world needs ;)
My only advice to that is: screw the rest of the world. I know it, you know it, that's plenty enough...
Unless, of course, you really want to father a stupid offspring...
